Position Description:

The primary responsibility of the Supply Planner is to direct inventory execution in alignment with defined brand strategies and financial constraints and metrics for our US Operating Unit. The team is responsible for analysis, reporting, development and execution of corrective actions for current and future inventory in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The Supply Planner will act as a proactive consultant for the supply planning needs of the business.

   

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage inventory levels:

  • Create brand specific inventory strategies that support our diverse customer base
  • Define and direct execution of inventory settings in line with brand strategies
  • Review, update, and report on key performance indicators to measure inventory performance and identify and act on opportunities for improvement
  • Manage regular distribution of reports for stakeholders, ensuring teams know how to use reports and that reports are driving efficient exception planning
  • Consult on special buys and non-standard replenishment through what-if scenario planning around inventory entry and exit, forecasting impact to financial and inventory plans, and recommending buy decisions

Generate Purchase Order (PO) forecasts for internal and external stakeholders:

  • Create, analyze, and troubleshoot PO forecasts
  • Collaborate with vendor partners on PO forecast in conjunction sales forecast collaboration process
  • Monitor PO forecast consumption vs. ordering and root cause discrepancies in real time
  • Manage financial inventory forecast for assigned products

Lead supply planning meetings throughout the month:

  • Review inventory and purchase order forecasts
  • Discuss inventory coverage and actions regarding unproductive inventory
  • Recommend stocking strategies that align to big-picture goals set by Merchandising leaders
  • Propose actions to mitigate or resolve backordered and supply-constrained product

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

                                   

  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year college or university
  • Experience:
    • 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a supply chain planning or purchasing function with exposure to forecasting and replenishment processes and systems. 
    • Demonstrated experience influencing and indirectly leading a diverse group of individuals at various management levels across different functions of the organization.
    • Tire or automotive industry exposure helpful, but is not a prerequisite
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical and process thinking skills. Strong ability to review and analyze data to draw conclusions, recognize trends, troubleshoot problems, and avoid inaccuracies.
  • Able to tell a story with data and tailor that story to your audience. Present “bad” news or a dissenting opinion in a clear, professional, and data-backed way.
  • Self-starter with strong follow through. Continuous improvement mindset with ability to find problems and/or areas of improvement on your own.
  • Professional and effective verbal and written business communication.
  • Technology –  
    • MS Excel – power user, intermediate/advanced template and macro understanding, design and development
    • Splash BI (or other similar database query tool) – intermediate report development
    • Business Intelligence – conceptual understanding of data structures
    • MS Outlook (intermediate), MS Word (basic)
    • Other e.g. SQL, database architecture, custom programs, concurrent supervisors, API’s – understanding of technical concepts and basic operation at sufficient level to guide functional solution discussion with IT resources as well as execute appropriate testing

  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to office conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Travel required:  Minimal, but occasional.
